Celebrating 40 years of the GS, the 2021 F 750 and 850 GSs are the first new BMW adventure models to ‘break cover’ (to use the most over-used phrase in moto-journalism). And as seen at the 2020 BMW Motorrad International GS Trophy, the bumblebee GS is back! The F 750/850 GSs will be available in an optional celebratory black-yellow colourway that harks back to the R 100 GS of 1988.
Key update to the models will be the inclusion of ABS Pro and Dynamic Traction Control as standard – formerly part of optional upgrade packages. As well the turn indicators will now be LED and there’s the very useful (now virtually essential) addition of a USB port in the ‘cockpit’ ready to power your navigation device or phone. The F 850 GS also gets an adjustable screen, a GPS mount (above the instruments) and the TFT screen (with Connectivity) as standard. All models come with three variations on colours, being ‘basic’, Rallye and ’40 years of GS’.
Pro riding modes are still an optional extra (would love to see them as standard!) but BMW has reworked the settings. Changes to legislation has meant a subtle change to the ABS as well, and as completely off is now verboten according to EU law, we’ll get ABS off on the rear wheel only in the Enduro Pro mode.
Availability is from September.
